Brahms and Dvořák – both composers of genius, both contemporaries, both outstanding masters whose deep friendship and mutual admiration spanned more than two decades. Kent Nagano and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal delve into the Slavic soul in a selection of Brahms’s famous Hungarian Dances, which rank among the most popular works in the repertory, and in Dvořák’s Fifth Symphony. Also by Brahms the program includes his great Violin Concerto with the virtuoso Veronika Eberle as soloist.
