In the beginning was… Monteverdi! With his “fable for music” based on the ancient myth of Orpheus, the composer laid the foundations for a genre that would last for centuries to come: opera. World-renowned leading lights Leonardo García Alarcón and his Cappella Mediterranea make their joint debut both in Canada and at Lanaudière to gift us with all the splendour of this distinctive masterpiece: at once a love song, an ode to the power of music, and a philosophical tale of timeless significance.
